Indeed, we enter the final week of May.

Where the weather finds us in the great outdoors for some physical activity.

Looks like a piece is missing.

That's okay...they are still fun to do!

Creative play.

Our Grade One students worked in our Fully Alive book today.

We discussed the ways we are all the same and the ways we are unique.

Our Grade Two's did the same as well.

Indeed, we are "Fully Alive!"

Just as our class brainstormed paragraph on Dignity indicates, we must treat each other with respect.

We all copied down our "brainstormed" passage about Dignity.

A colourful version of our brainstormed work on addition.

With lovely art work to go along with the nice passage.

It is with pure joy that we share what we are proud about in our lives.  Homework sure can be a lot of fun!

We learned how God chose Moses to lead His people to the promised land.
It was a long and difficult journey, but Moses knew that God was with them all the way.
Have a great evening everyone!

Day 162

We began our morning with the Grade One's at carpet learning more about family life.

While the Grade Two's remained at their desks working on a writing activity.

Then the roles were reversed.

In order for Mr. Hamer to work with each grade independently.

The weather was so lovely.

That we simply had to head outdoors.

But not out to the school playground.

No sirree!

Instead...

...it was over to the park.

With Ms. Marasco's Grade 2/3 class.

Our group stopped for a moment...

...before playing on the park structures.

So that we could snap some individual pics...

...of our tree-hugging bunch!

Her smile tells it all.

It is a joy to get out in nature.

For some fresh air.

With classmates.

In the park.

Just before lunch.

For half an hour.

With enough time...

...to test out the new park equipment.

It's colourful for sure.

Check in tomorrow to see what we did at the park.

Oh yes, we continued learning about probability.

We took turns rolling a single number cube.

With young "Vanna White" charting all of the rolls in a tally chart.
We studied the distribution results after each child had two rolls and the results (not shown here) did indicate roughly an equal  1/6 probability of rolling any of the six numbers.
Check in tomorrow to see more fun things we do at school!
Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 163

We continued our study of probability with two number cubes.

We discussed the many ways your could roll a two, a three, a four and so on.

We came to the conclusion that the number that has the highest probability of being rolled is the number seven.

We realized this because there are more ways to roll a seven that any other number...six different ways...
(1 and 6, 6 and 1, 2 and 5, 5 and 2, 3 and 4, 4 and 3)

Each pupil was given the opportunity to roll the two number cubes twice.  We plotted the amount in a tally chart.  The distribution of the numbers is pretty much what you would expect to see with the numbers 6, 7 and 8 appearing most often.

Some colourful math work.

Tasty too!

Can I have a taste?

More examples of our work.

This sheet combines language, science and social studies.

Lovely work.

Some examples of our word searches.

The children use different colours.

They colour the word they found and the word from the bank below in the same colour.

Learning so much.

Lots to learn for sure!

Check in tomorrow for more pics from our exciting class!

Day 164

Thursday morning found the class hard at work.

Students took turns coming over to the table where Mr. Hamer set up a special canvas.

Each class was given an art canvas on which all the students in the class were asked to participate in some form of finger painting.

At the June BBQ and Fun Night, an auction will be held and all parents will be given the opportunity to bid on any and all of the paintings done by each class in the school.

The boys and girls loved coming up to the table.

They enjoyed dipping their finger into the paint.

Then dabbing the paint onto the canvas.

We chose to do a form of contemporary art just like the art we had done earlier.

Using a form of art called "Pointalism" the artwork was well underway.

A series of dots laid down by the students saw the painting develop nicely.
The masking tape was laid down and three colours were selected.

The painting after the masking tape is removed.

The final artwork once Mr. Hamer took a Sharpie to create a black border around all of the shapes.  The black lines allow the shapes to "pop" out at you!

Here is a picture of our earlier artworks.

Some more images from our visit across the street.

The new structures at the park are very popular.

Into the swing of things.

Balancing act!  After Mr. Hamer snapped the picture, the students were asked to sit down.  These two friends were unaware Mr. Hamer had taken the picture!  Hehehe!  Remember...safety first!

Just one of the many items in the park.

A horse ride is fun.

Teeter totter fun!

I go down and you go up!

Traversing the spider web inside the mobius strip.

That cool new swing.

A handsome lad in a handsome park!

Another of our classmates...this one of the furry variety.

Fun play time.

Dress-up time.

Cool shades!

Love the outfit!

An active raccoon!  Check in later over the weekend to see our Friday pics!
All the best, Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 165

Our finished "Contemporary Art" works adorn the front blackboard.

Before school began, our classroom hosted a special meeting of the teachers.

Where Mr. Hamer taught them a new song for an upcoming special staff event.

On Thursday we were still in May.

Friday brought us into June.

With humidex readings in the mid to high 30's we can call ourselves "survivors!"

Yes, I am proud of the boys and girls for making it through such a hot week out in the portapack.

Imagine, they still had energy to respond to questions.

And to volunteer to assist the teacher up front.

Real keen ones for sure!

"I know the answer!"

Hard at work.

Concentration plus!

Devoted.

Another image of our class art project where all of the children's fingers made an impact.

As mentioned before, the artwork will be auctioned off on our annual Family Fun Night BBQ.

Working in teams.

Working together.

Saying "Hello!"

We got outside for some fresh air.

Where we played with many of the class balls Mr. Hamer brought in.

"This is fun!"

The bigger balls were a big hit.

They bounced really high.

A soccer star!

A posed shot.

All blue!

In the shade.

On the portapack steps.

Another posed shot.

A great netminder.

With her friends.

Our other big ball.

Back in class.

Some chromebook time.

You've gotta just "LOVE" the shirt!

"Shhh...I'm really into my game!"

A cool cucumber get fanned!

With a cool shirt.

Offering someone a lift around the room!
Here's to the last four weeks of school coming up!
All the best,  Mr. Hamer OCT
