Day 147 and 148
Yes, we're combining last Friday with this Monday!

Indeed, this week is Education Week!
Tomorrow morning will be our annual "Open House" between 8:15 AM - 9:15 AM
Visitors are asked to bring in a half-dozen muffins or doughnuts or croissants.

Between 8:15 AM and 8:45 AM, you are welcome to visit the classroom.
Following this half-hour you are welcome to come over to the gym for breakfast.
You will be able to hear the choir sing and watch the dance showcase at that time.

I may not be around the classroom as I will have to "warm-up" with the choir.

Feel free to check out your child's folders.

Ask them to share some of their poetry with you.

Also feel free to check out our many class books along the shelf to the left as you enter the classroom.

Your child's page in each book will always be in the same location throughout all 50 or so books.

The girls' pages appear first in ABC order by first name.

The boys' work takes up the second half of each book, also in ABC order by first name.

Thank you, in advance, for coming out!

The class as it appeared after the children left for home.

Looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow morning!

Day 149

It's "Open House" day for Education Week.

That means it's time to get all that "lost and found" material out for the parents to peruse.

We also reminded the students to check over the assembled clothing closely at each recess.

Lots of unclaimed clothes, for sure.

The "muffin breakfast" in the gym.

Quite the crowd.

Fun happenings in EDP.

This only means that he is an inquisitive young lad!

Some of the girls with their poetry.

They are proud of their writing.

Tons of creativity abounds.

With each game following a theme.

Day 152

On the Friday, many choirs assembled for a board wide musical celebration.
We spot one of the 11 east end choirs in rehearsal.

An artsy image of some of our choir members awaiting their rehearsal time.

Notre Dame High School played host to the event for the east end students.

Fifteen schools participated at the west end location.

For a total of 26 schools in all.

This is such a great opportunity for the choirs to showcase their wonderful talents.

Another image of our group.

Mrs. Blackmore, Ms. Samia and our parent volunteer, Heather.

The choirs came in different sizes.

Different apparel as well.

For the finale, the parents came up on the stage.

While the "massed choir" sang from their seats in the auditorium.

The foyer of the high school.

Displaying the flags of the homeland of many of their students.

A lovely display in the hall.

Beautiful art.

Creative students, for sure.

Hey, that's Mr. Hamer reflected in the glass!

Ms. Lucy, our educational assistant who accompanied us on the trip sent me the following few images, including this one with the "OCSB ARTS" sign on the stage edge.

An "off stage" view.

From back stage.

We are so proud of our choristers.

The parents on the stage.

Our singers in their seats.

Our Grade Two classmates will be able to join the choir next school year!

Just a reminder that both of our field trips take place this coming Wednesday, May 16th.  Our Grade One pupils will be visiting the Museum of Science and Technology along with Mrs. Bellamy, Mrs. Gillam and Mrs. Akle.  We have four volunteers for this trip...much appreciated.  I will accompany the Grade Two field trip as we have more grade twos than  grade ones and this trip is in the great outdoors where my supervision will be required.  We have two volunteers for this trip...also greatly appreciated.  Here is the note Mrs. Roche passed around to the Grade Two teachers for their parent volunteers.

"Dear Parent Volunteers,  Thank you for volunteering for our field trip to Gatineau Park on May 16th.  Please meet us at 9:45 AM at the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre, 33 Scott Road, Chelsea, Quebec, telephone (819) 827-2020.  (You could also meet us in the morning at the school at 9:15 and simply follow the school bus in your car.)  Our bus will leave the school promptly following attendance at 9:15 AM.  Our workshop starts as soon as we arrive at the visitor centre.  We will be leaving the park at 1:15 PM to return to the school.  Please dress for the weather!"

Also note that this coming Friday, May 18th is a PD Day.
