Week Thirty-Eight Well Into June

Day 170

Our birthday boy is holding one of the OTrain models we put together in class  today.

Mr. and Mrs. Hamer visited the OTrain simulator over the "Doors Open Ottawa" weekend.

We have to thank Mrs. Hamer for the model as she was the one who asked a volunteer at OCTranspo if we could have 20 models for the children in her husband's class.

As you can see, Mr. Hamer was given 20 models.

One for each student!

Yabba dabba doo!

Some of the finished models on the table.

We were also given a colouring page and a wordsearch.

We worked on the colouring page today.

Some proud pupils.

Smiling for the camera.

Working in our teams.

Devotion to detail.

Laughter.

Caring.

Fun too!

Smiles.

And chuckles.

Friends.

And more friends.

In lieu of sending home the Newsletter, here it is below in truncated form.

This coming Thursday, June 14th, St. Bernard Catholic School will hold its annual End of Year BBQ.  As the newsletter below states, high school volunteers are required to help make the event a success.

On Friday morning, our friends from the Extended Day Program will be putting on a great play entitled, "Beauty is the Beast".  We look forward to enjoying all of the hard work the EDP children and teachers have put into the play.

Next week, Mr. Hamer will let you know the evening he will be opening his home for a visit to his model railroad.  This ties in nicely with our model building lesson of the OTrain models today.

Have a great evening everyone!
Mr. Hamer, OCT

Finally, Monday will be our fund-raising walk-a-thon in the park for our new climbing structure.
Please send in a little donation with your child Monday as we walk the park.
All the best, Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 172

This week we also studied some of the main safety symbols for children and adults to be aware of.

Yellow triangles mean caution and danger.

As do red framed symbols in the shape of a diamond.

Some of the students could already identify some of the symbols as being on products in their home which is a good thing.

We learned that we do not play with any product that has these symbols on them.

All the children recognized this danger sign.

A red line going diagonally through a symbol in a circle means that you are not allowed to use the device in the area or not allowed to do what the picture is showing.  Many children mentioned that they had seen a similar line with a cigarette as the symbol meaning a "No Smoking" area.

Another hightly recognizable symbol for the students. Indeed, we all must work to help keep our planet clean!

Let's check in on our artwork...

...of the contemporary variety.

Lots of cool designs, for sure!

We love her style!

Her work is called "Lollipop".

It is currently on view in the Omenk Gallery in Lagos, Nigeria.

A smile of satisfaction.

His work is entitled "Bey Blade City."

It can be seen at the Museo Egizio in Turin, Italy.

She loves her effort!

"Diamond Crystals."

She has offered her masterpiece to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Halifax, NS, Canada

He's excited to share...

...his "Overflow of Sugar."

Before sending it off to the Louvre in Paris, France.

Hi, it's me!

My artwork is called "The Great Outdoors."

It is on display at the ROM or Royal Ontario Museum down the road in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

 I am a serious artist.

I call my work "Kaleidoscope of Colours."

In can see it in my mother's homeland at the Eudovic's Art Studio in Castries, St. Lucia.

Check in later on in the day for more artwork from our students and to see more from the week that is behind us!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 173

It was really hot a couple of days this week...

...so...we decided to go "hang out" in the park across the street.

To help let the day slide by.

We're so relaxed.

On this blue sky day.

All the best, Mr. Hamer  OCT
