Week Thirty-Seven Into the Month of June

Day 166
No More Spelling Lists and No More Spelling Tests This Year!

As we noted last Friday, we are now into the month of June.

One of our little ones has a wounded wing although she finds the stamina to create a lovely picture!

Speaking of artwork, we once again share our class piece of art.

Which will be auctioned off at the evening Family Fun Fair BBQ.

Every student contributed.

With every colour.

In an artform known as pointillism.

The goal was to use three colours only.

With no two panel shapes being across from its own colour.

Here's an image of our artwork with all of the others in back.

Perhaps your family will be the one that wins the auction!

Let's hope so!

Today we read three fables in class.
The Ant and the Dove.
The Wolf and the Dog.
The Cat and the Mice.
Ask your child what lesson they learned from each of the fables.

The girls off in the distance last week.

Closer still.

Closer yet.

Ah...for sunny days.

A happy lad.

A happy lass.
Check in later for a review of the month of May!
Have a great evening!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 167

On Tuesday of this week, Mr. Hamer got out his book on Fables.

One of our classmates took this picture of Mr. Hamer showing us the book.

We are eager and attentive learners.

Fables are interesting!

This is a collection of Aesop's fables.

Remember, you can click on the picture to enlarge the page so you can read the same fable Mr. Hamer taught us.

We learned that fables teach us lessons about life.

These lessons are called the moral of the fable.

We also learned that animals are typically the main characters in a fable.

Our classmates helped hand out our folders so that Mr. Hamer could give us our work back.

We also learned more about Moses.

How he was abandoned by his mother out of love.

So that he would not be killed.

We watched a couple of versions of the story.

We revisit our time at the park last week.

It was a really sunny day.

But we found respite beneath the canopy of leaves.

Or beneath a part of the structure.

A little student spider.

Two student spiders.

How about three!

Or more?

Too much fun!

This morning (Wednesday) Mr. Hamer told us that a gift to us from him was a "Cover" for our year-end class book which we will be able to take home.

Mr. Hamer spent hours and hours colouring the covers for us.  He said that we have already published over 60 class books.  That means that when we separate the class books and have all of our pages returned to us individually, our personal class book will be over 60 pages long!  Mr. Hamer had better go out and buy some bigger bindings for our books!

Tomorrow evening, Mr. Hamer is at a farewell party for a special person, so our blog entry will appear later for today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday).

Have a great evening everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 168

Wednesday found us in the Learning Commons for our last visit of the year.

This young virtuoso kept his peers entertained with his superb playing.

The good old pit in the Learning Commons.

Ms. Avilla offered to open up the MakerSpace for the last time.

The lads are having fun.

As are the lasses!

Hi Ms. Avilla!

Cool creation.

Let's check out some of the finger paintings from other classes in the school which will be up for auction during our School BBQ evening.

Art done with the eraser end of a pencil.

"All you need is ....!"

Creative message.

Another one!

Love the seasons represented.

Similar art form as our class using masking tape.

Thumbprints.

Lovebirds!

Our class creation.

Another inspirational message.

Simply Beautiful.

Love the sunset!

Spring flowers.

We love our friends.

Lovely work.

Truly inspirational.

Thumbs and hearts!

Some more creations from our young friends.

Working together.

Happy faces.

Colourful collection!

Our Lego wall.

Check in at a later date to see pics from our Jumbo Freezie experience!
All the best!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 169

Thursday found the class hard at work.

Sharing resources.

Completing assignments.

Concentrating.

Focussing.

Yes...and stretching too!

A colourful class.

Speaking of colour...

Check out the colourful flavours from our Jumbo Freezie Day on Wednesday.

In the outdoor classroom.

Yum, yum!

Can I get in the picture too!

You certainly can.

Love the big rocks in the outdoor classroom.

So tasty.

Blue and red.

Our Grade Six pupils are so dedicated.

They were great sellers.

Devoting their recess time for a good cause.

They have realized that hard work is an important ingredient in life.

Oooh...so go-o-o-o-d!

Dancing and prancing around.

On the school playground.

A cool looking class!

We will see you next week!
