Day 139

Tomorrow our Grade Two pupils celebrate "Breakfast on the Shore".
The children are excited to share this special moment with their families.
Don't forget to bring your beach towel and food item!

This morning it was Mr. Papineau's turn to teach our combined buddy class.

They enjoyed a lesson on probability in math.

The children enjoy the variety of seating options available in the classroom.

Lots of keen discussion.

Smiles too.

Keen listeners.

Waiting for their supplies.

We love our buddies.

And they love us!

Say hello!

Boy talk!

Handsome lads.

Beautiful lasses.

On a warm...

...and sunny day.

Hanging around.

Let that sun shine in!

Thanks Mr. Papineau and buddies!

A bulletin board in the junior end.

What's this?

A parade?

Indeed it is!

But...what's the reason?

Aha!

We know why.

Mrs. Montsion's class has just counted all of the bags.

They are bringing them to the front lobby.

All three thousand plus bags!

Too cool!

Great job St. Bernard!

We certainly are helping to make a difference in the environment.

In block two, all students who completed their homework in its entirety were offered the chance to play with chrome books or other toys for 30 minutes in reward for their hard work.

This little girl didn't want to go on a chrome book.

She chose to create a mini-school out of this creative toy.

Then it was back into the big school.

For our final rehearsal.

For our special event tomorrow.

Where we rehearsed what we would be doing.

Our readers rehearsing their words.

 The Grade Two combined choir.

Family members will see a message on the big screen when they arrive.

The breakfast will take place in the Learning Commons.

Our fishing net is in place.

With all the fish our little disciples have created.

That's a pretty good catch in my books!

A closer view.

Of all the fish.

Should be enough to cover our breakfast, I believe!

Colourful too.

I bet they are tasty!  (Mr. Hamer enjoyed a fish lunch on the shore of the Sea of Galilee when he visited the Holy Land.)

We will be reminding our little friends to be considerate with clean up.

Where they will know where all items should go.

We will always think of Jesus and all the beautiful lessons He has taught us.
What a special moment this must have been for Jesus to share such a meal with his close friends before he ascended into Heaven.

Please enjoy a wonderful evening!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 140

This morning we celebrated our Grade Two "Breakfast on the Shore" event.

The fish are caught in the big net!  Great job, children!

Our message board.

One fish...

...two fish.

Red fish, blue fish!

Many families in the learning commons.

Mrs. Roche offers a few words.

We're gathered around the pit.

Then it's time for our breakfast.

With our beach towels.

Lots of parents.

Lots of friends.

Father and daughter.

Grandma and grandkids!

Lots of smiles.

Mother and son.

Ditto!

Mother and daughter times two!

Two big smiles.

...and...two more.

Back in class it was time for art.

The chrome books come in handy.

With their great tutorials.

Love the drawing.

Love the matching colours.

A proud student.

"Look at mine, Mr. Hamer!"

"Mine too!"

"How about mine!"
They all look beautiful!

Two girls and two fish.

They show the reverse side of their fish.

Three girls have gone fishing.

Check out the other side of their catch!

Another friend's fish.

And the other side.

"We had fun going fishing, Mr. Hamer!"

"We caught some very colourful samples!"

"Look what we found in our net!"

"It's fun being a disciple of Jesus."

Two colourful lads...

...with two colourful fish!
We enjoyed a lovely day along the shore!

Have a relaxing evening!
Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 141

A young lad leads the group at calendar.

Everyone is keen to respond to his questioning.

Enthusiasm plus!

"Who can answer this question?"

"My mystery date is between April 9th and April 19th.  It is not a weekend date.  It is not on a Wednesday.  It is an odd number, but it is not purple.  It is not the end dates of the 9th and 19th.  What number am I thinking about?"

Later we got the Holy Bible out.

We read the story of Abraham.

Like Noah, he was a good man.

He and his family lived in a tent because they had to move around with their flocks to greener pastures.

One evening God spoke to Abraham.

"You will be a leader of people," God told Abraham.  "Your people will number like the countless stars in the sky."

Later, Abraham was excited when three very special people came to visit him.

Of course, we know that it was God and two angels.  Abraham and Sarah were surprised to learn that they would have a son, even though they were very old.

We also learned more about Abraham and Sarah from the Smartboard.

It was fun having the children take turns being the Narrator, God and Abraham.

Catching up on some work.

"I like spelling."

Nice effort.

"Check out my work on Abraham and Sarah!"

Lovely effort.

"How about my work?"

Fabulous too!

"Do you like mine?"

Yes we do!

A different activity around the same story.

Lovely effort.

"Check out mine!"

Lovely too.

"Here's my spelling."

"I love searching for hidden pictures!"

A lovely work of art by this little girl.

"We love Jesus!"

Very special.

"Look at mine."

Great going!

"I put a lot of time into my work!"

Lovely as well.

Teamwork.

Very colourful.

Having fun in block four.

With a furry friend.

More fun.

With another furry friend.
Tomorrow night Mr. Hamer is attending a staff social immediately following school and then he plays guitar in the evening, so check out the blog Friday evening instead.
Remember...Friday is a PD Day!  Have a fine evening everyone.
Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 142

After we sang the national anthem...

...we rehearsed our signing.

The boys and girls held the pose for the picture.

They all know the signing off by heart as well as the singing!

A subtraction wheel.

The children enjoy coming up to the board.

They certainly know what they are doing.

Here's Ms. Hartmann.

She's leading the dance workshop.

Some fancy lighting.

A happy lad.

Psychedelic!

A little line forms.

And everybody joins in.

The lights come back on for some more teaching.

They all get it!

They follow every move Ms. Hartmann makes.

Love it!

Synchronization!

Good little movers and shakers!

Good followers, for sure!

Hands up.

Get ready.

Get down!

Back in class block four found time for free play.

Children need a break from their work as well.

It is nice to see them get along during free play.

Lots of Bey Blades.

In the arena.

Too much fun!

Creative...

Yes...creative little geniuses!

Looks pretty!

Smiles abound.

The finished product!

And...another finished artwork!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Mr. Hamer OCT
